Symposium on the Digital Humanities DHU2

Our view is that Digital Humanities is both method and critical lens; the field cannot be fully conceptualized without both aspects.  For instance, “big data” research projects afford interesting perspectives for humanities researchers when digging into large text corpora (in the hundreds or thousands) to detect patterns and trends challenging old axioms drawn from a “close-reading” tradition limited to several texts.  Both computing methods and humanistic vision are needed to interpret the data once visualized.  On the other side, new media theorists might benefit from a more granular understanding of computing that can only come from building or disassembling a machine or software algorithm.

Registration for DHU2 is now open and we are currently accepting conference proposals.
