Strengthening engagement of international, regional and national organizations in scaling up access to and dissemination of agricultural data AGROVOC is the largest Linked Open Data set about agriculture available for public use. Since 2019, AGROVOC is expanding its coverage through the collaboration with communities of experts to include specialized domains who can benefit from the AGROVOC infrastructure. AGROVOC has partnerships with more than 20 stakeholders, has up to 50 million accesses each year and is available in 38 languages.

GACS Core is not currently being updated and will not be actively maintained in the future A meeting held on 5-6 November 2019 at FAO in Rome assessed the current status and future prospects for the Global Agricultural Concept Space (GACS) -- a Linked Open Data concept scheme created by mapping frequently-used concepts at the intersection of three major agricultural thesauri: the AGROVOC Thesaurus, the CAB Thesaurus (CABT), and NAL Thesaurus (NALT).

How to access AGROVOC AGROVOC content is accessible both to humans and in machine-readable format. It can be searched manually for concepts or terms, browsed by hierarchy, downloaded as an RDF dataset, accessed via web services or searched through SPARQL queries, using a public SPARQL endpoint.
