skos:scopeNote Green beans are classified by growth habit into two major groups, "bush" (or "dwarf") beans and "pole" (or "climbing") beans. Wax bean is a yellow form of the green bean. Note: The definition of green beans is broad and depends on the reporting authority. The FAO definition of “Beans, Green” for statistical purposes is beans from the genus Phaseolus and Vigna spp. grown for shelling (FAOSTAT code 0414). “String Beans” are defined as beans from the genus Phaseolus vulgaris and Vigna spp and not grown for shelling. Thus, to be consumed in-shell (FAOSTAT code 0423).
