AGROVOC

AGROVOC is a controlled vocabulary covering all areas of interest to FAO, including food, nutrition, agriculture, fisheries, forestry, environment etc.

To date, AGROVOC contains over 30,000 concepts organized in a hierarchy, each concept may have labels in up to 22 languages: Arabic, Chinese, Czech, English, French, German, Hindi, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Lao, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Thai, Turkish. Four more language versions are under development (Malaysian, Moldavian, Telugu, Ukrainian)

AGROVOC is formalized as a RDF/SKOS-XL linked dataset, accessible thorugh a SPARQL endpoint, and it is also available for download in various formats. You can also include AGROVOC in your specific application through web services, and search or browse AGROVOC through this website. 

AGROVOC is maintained by means of VocBench, an open-source web-based platform supporting distributed editing of multilingual resources.
