Collaboration between CAAS and AGRIS teams in the context of the agINFRA project

One of the expected outcomes of the agINFRA project is to enhance the exposure options of Chinese agricultural research respositories and enhance their interoperability with other related repositories and networks. The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is one of the consortium partners of the agINFRA project and the work is focused on two large databases that CAAS brings to the project: The Chinese Agricultural Sci-tech Documents Database (CASDD) with millions of bibliographic records and the Chinese Crop Germplasm Information System (CGRIS), with information on thousands of germplasm accessions.

In this direction, two researchers of the CAAS team, namely Dr. Sun Wei and Dr. Xian Guojian did a research visit during the last three months (April to June 2014) at the Agro-Know (AK) premises, Athens, Greece (Agro-Know is also an agINFRA project partner) and worked closely with the AGRIS team in order to enable a bidirectional transfer of knowledge and see how the AGRIS architecture could be reused in the case of CAAS. During these three months, there has been great progress in this direction, including both the technical part and the one referring to the knowledge management and linked data features of the new developments; the results are expected to be published before the end of the agINFRA project in January 2015.
