Webinars@AIMS: From Print to Electronic: Using the Open Journal System to Publish an E-journal

The AIMS team is pleased to announce the webinar “From Print to Electronic: Using the Open Journal System (OJS) to Publish an E-Journal".

The webinar will present the Open Journal System (OJS), developed as part of the Open Knowledge Project, which is an open source software freely available that promotes open access to research and scholarship. This webinar will discuss how OJS can be used to launch an open access journal as well as the challenges faced with producing an online journal.

The webinar addresses publishers, librarians, information management specialists, software developers, (agricultural) journal editors, related data providers and other interested people.

Abstract

In this age of quick publishing and dissemination of research and scholarship, the peer reviewed journal remains as the accepted form of scholarly publication.Using the internet to disseminate the journal has given rise to the user preference for the convenience of accessing the journal at their desk top.  The production costs for the journals remain the same and the distribution costs have increased as readers demand some functionality of the journal platform. Organizations that want to promote open access to their research and scholarship do not have the resources to develop their own platform.
