agriculture engineering grain drying semantic web technologies and standards decission support platforms
What is your relationship with agricultural information management standards, tools and services?
In 2012, it is difficult to imagine the modern world without the ubiquitous Internet resources. However, in comparison with the original idea of Tim Berners-Lee, the Internet we know today is only a poor relative. His vision of the possibilities and potential of the global World Wide Web reached much further than what we are observing today. there are still domains which are not present within the Semantic Web space. Among those domains, there is grain drying - the process that is one of the most important energy consumer [more details stated in "Handbook of Industrial Drying" by Mujumdar et al]. Therefore, I'm working on decision support platform for Internet-based Knowledge Center (IKC) for the grain drying domain (and three perspectives: Agriculture (farmers), Industry (manufacturers of the dryers and drying systems) and Science. IKC is using the Semantic Web standards at Knowledge Representation and Reasoning layers and also I intend to use the agrovoc and agrotagger tools from FAO to ease the process of modelling the domain.
