Since 2001, FAO organizes the AOS Workshops in collaboration with key stakeholders and information and knowledge managers from agricultural institutions with the objective

• to invest in better semantic tools;
• to provide a discussion forum for experts to present results and experiences, and reflect on the state-of-the-art of metadata and semantics; and
• to bring together people who work on semantics in agriculture.

The AOS workshops are informal and usually associated with a bigger scientific meeting. Spain, United Kingdom, Denmark, Italy, China and India are some of the countries where the AOS Workshops have been organized to date.
