First Eastern and Southeastern European Regional Workshop on AGORA and Research4Life

The First Eastern and Southeastern European Regional Workshop on AGORA and Research4Life is taking place on 3 and 4 October at the State Agrarian University of Moldova in Chișinău.

The AGORA Team from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is presenting AGORA and the other programmes from Research4Life to participants from various countries: Armenia, Belarus, Moldova, Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia, Ukraine and Georgia.

This opportunity will allow Research4Life and AGORA to strenghten ties with key institutions in this crossroads of cultures, and to promote the use of the five programmes in the region.

Participants from the University of SS. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, the Belarus State Institution "I.S. Lupinovich Belarus Agricultural Library", the Matica Srpska Library in Serbia, and many more instituions will present case studies on the biggest challenges and benefits in accessing scientific information, including agricultural sciences, encouraging knowledge sharing during the workshop. This exchange will allow AGORA and Research4Life to build on the lesson learned and further improve Research4Life portal and services.

A training session on how to access information resouces via AGORA and Research4Life, and an advocacy training on them will conlcude the two-day workshop.

The AGORA programme, set up by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) together with major publishers, enables developing countries to gain access to an outstanding digital library collection in the fields of food, agriculture, environmental science and related social sciences. AGORA provides a collection of up to 14,500 key journals and up to 27,000 books in more than 115 countries. AGORA is designed to enhance the scholarship of the many thousands of students, faculty and researchers in agriculture and life sciences in the developing world. AGORA is one of the five programmes that make up Research4Life: AGORA, HINARI, OARE, ARDI and GOALI.
