Implementation of a knowledge management platform for Agroecology in Ecuador

From April to June 2013, the AIMS team received the visit of Juan José Lugo Bernal, student from the Technical University of Madrid (Spain), as a part of the ERASMUS Student Mobility for Placements. During his stay in Rome, Juan José finalized the publication"Desarrollo de una plataforma para la gestión del conocimiento sobre agroecología en Ecuador" which has been now published on e-LIS at http://eprints.rclis.org/20596/.

The report presents the creation of a platform for knowledge management of agroecological online communities, using  standards proposed by the Agricultural Information Management Standards (aims.fao.org) website.

As a result, and also following the IMARK checklist for creating digital repositories, the requirements were defined, and an analysis was conducted on four different content management systems: WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and AgriDrupal. According to the requirements, the analysis suggested as best option AgriDrupal (30.64%), followed by WordPress (27.9%), Drupal (22.7%) and Joomla (18.76%).

The report is only available in Spanish.
