VEST Registry. Vocabularies
All the vocabularies in the VEST Registry are classified by type and subject domain. Most of the Vocabularies are related to indexing. The purpose of indexing is to facilitate the search and finding of the content in a collection by the use of controlled/code lists, authority files or controlled subject vocabularies. The indexing ensures that the content will be found by users when they search specifically in information management systems. There are different type of vocabularies like authority files, classification systems, concept maps, controlled lists, ontologies, taxonomies or subject headings. But under the concept Vocabularies you can find as well dictionaries, encyclopedies, glossaries, lexical databases or topic trees.
If you want to suggest a new vocabulary, we invite you to complete this contact form, and under category choose, "AIMS.VEST Registry" in the message function kindly provide the following information: type of suggestion, contact person, resource URL and organization.
Browse
Select any subject on the domains list and type of vocabulary and click Apply. If you only want to browse by type of vocabulary, select only items from the type of vocabulary list and click Apply. While if you want to retrieve all the records under one or more subjects, select only items from the list of domains and click Apply. JITA Classification System of Library and Information Science
JITA is a classification schema of Library and Information Science (LIS). It is used by E-LIS, an international open repository for scientific papers in Library and Information Science, for indexing and searching. Currently JITA is available in English and has been translated into 14 languages (tr, el, nl, cs, fr, it, ro, ca, pt, pl, es, ar, sv, ru). JITA is also accessible as Linked Open Data, containing 3500 triples.

Library of Congress Authorities
The Library of Congress Authorities allows to search, view, browse and save approximately: 265,000 subject authority records; 5.3 million name authority records (ca. 3.8 million personal, 900,000 corporate, 120,000 meeting, and 90,000 geographic names); 350,000 series and uniform title authority records; and 340,000 name/title authority records. Associated references and scope notes are also provided.

MeSH - Medical Subject Headings
MeSH is the National Library of Medicine's controlled vocabulary thesaurus. It consists of sets of terms naming descriptors in a hierarchical structure that permits searching at various levels of specificity. MeSH descriptors are arranged in both an alphabetic and a hierarchical structure. At the most general level of the hierarchical structure are very broad headings such as "Anatomy" or "Mental Disorders." More specific headings are found at more narrow levels of the twelve-level hierarchy, such as "Ankle" and "Conduct Disorder." There are 26,142 descriptors in 2011 MeSH. There are also over 177,000 entry terms that assist in finding the most appropriate MeSH Heading, for example, "Vitamin C" is an entry term to "Ascorbic Acid." In addition to these headings, there are more than 199,000 headings called Supplementary Concept Records (formerly Supplementary Chemical Records) within a separate thesaurus.

Esta ontología contiene un subconjunto de unos 400 términos muy pertinentes para las variedades silvestres de las plantas cultivadas. Los términos de gran pertinencia para el dominio de las variedades silvestres están agrupadas por temas, que corresponden a grandes rasgos a las categorías del AGROVOC (nivel superior), o indican las fuentes temáticas de donde se toman los términos (diccionarios en línea de biología, geografía, etc.), con el objetivo de equilibrar el número de términos que hay entre los grupos.

Solanaceae Source
Solanaceae Source aims to provide names lists, species descriptions, specimen collections and publication lists for the genus Solanum. Data is currently being compiled and will continue to be updated and added to for the duration of the project.
The Solanaceae Source index of names is adapted from a list collated and maintained by Michael Nee (NY). In addition to names, Nee's list contains extensive nomenclature and type information gathered from consulting numerous herbaria. This additional information is not currently displayed on Solanaceae Source, but can be made available on request.
The names list on Solanaceae Source is a work in progress. Synonymy and nomenclature information are considered authoritative only for names that are accompanied by a full species description. For accepted names that do not yet have a species description, synonymy should be considered provisional.

Species Fungorum
The Index Fungorum (maintained by the Index Fungorum Partnership) is the global nomenclatural database for fungi (Fungi, chromistan fungi, protozoan fungi) and contains over 380,000 names at the rank of species and below. Some names in this database comprise the Species Fungorum component from CABI Bioscience and are identified as the correct name for a taxon or as a synonym. The names of about 34,000 species (plus 65,000 synonyms) of mainly economically important fungi in groups that are not yet covered globally in other GSDs are included. Species Fungorum aspires to be a global checklist of the fungi and provides links to sources of additional information (descriptions, illustrations, on-line identification systems) where these are available.
