Agricultural Information Management Registry
of Vocabularies, mEtadata Sets and Tools
The Vocabularies, mEtadata Sets and Tools (VEST) Registry for agricultural information management is a catalog of tools, created and maintained by AIMS. More specifically it contains:
- Controlled vocabularies: authority files, classification systems, concept maps, controlled lists, dictionaries, ontologies or subject headings.
- Metadata sets: metadata element sets, namespaces and application profiles.
- Tools: library management software, content management systems or document repository software.
The objective of the VEST Registry is to give a general overview of available tools in agricultural information management. It is thus primarily concerned with collecting and and maintaining a consistent set of metadata for each type of resource. The overall aim of the Registry is to increase the visibility and use of open access tools for agricultural information management.
Suggest new resources
The VEST Registry already contains 110 vocabularies, 29 metadata sets and 33 tools, but many more can be added! Do you know of a resource not yet present in the VEST Registry, please send an e-mail to aims@fao.org providing the web address of the resource. We will add it to the Registry.
Assistance
For questions and assistance on AIMS tools, standards and services present in the VEST Registry, please visit the Community section of the AIMS website. Most AIMS resources have a proper community where you can post your questions/comments and receive feedback.
