Global Panel technical brief: advocating for improved metrics and data for effective food system policies

The high level initiative "Global Panel" underlines the need for quality and quantity of food data in the 2nd Technical Brief that was published in October 2015. The document states that only filled data gaps can enable a proper accessment of food systems and evidence-based policymaking.

The paper addresses other decision makers and strongly advocates for policies that support data collection systems and innovative tools to assess the impact of various policy interventions across the food system.  The Global Panel itself is "an independent group of influential experts with a commitment to tackling global challenges in food and nutrition security". Among other influential personalities, members are Graziano da Silva (Director General of the FAO), John Kufuor (Former President of Ghana) and Akinwumi Adesina (President of the African Development Bank).
