The 48th Annual Conference of the Association of Caribbean University, Research and Institutional Libraries (ACURIL) will be held in the Dominican Republic from June 3-7, 2018.
The theme of the conference is entitled Open Access in Caribbean Libraries, Archives and Museums: Opportunities, Challenges and Future Directions. It revolves around four sub-themes:
- The Global and Caribbean Context
- Policy, Strategy and Advocacy
- Professional Development and User Education
- Innovation and Trends

There is also a special focus on Disaster Management and Preservation of Digital content given recent challenges in the Caribbean with hurricanes Irma and Maria which have devastated some of libraries in coutries such Sint Maarteen and Puerto Rico. They have suffered severe damages and are now grappling with relief and recovery efforts.
