SPARC “Meeting on Openness in Research and Education”

SPARC's 2016 “Meeting on Openness in Research and Education” (MORE) will take place on March 7-8, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. The meeting will be held at the Hyatt Regency in the heart of San Antonio’s famed River Walk. Click here to register for the MORE meeting in San Antonio!

Join us as leaders from the library community, academia, industry, student community, and other research avenues discuss how open access, open data, and open educational resources are intersecting, and the impact this convergence will have on research and discovery. The meeting is designed to emphasize collaborative actions that stakeholders can take to positively impact publishing, policy, digital repositories, author rights, and licensing.

Agenda

The meeting will feature a keynote from Richard Wilder, Associate General Counsel at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and a leader in creating the Foundation’s landmark Open Access Policy. His talk will offer key insights into the process of developing and implementing the Gates policy, as well as explore the Foundation’s work in fostering a culture of openness among a larger research funders. The program will also feature a mix of policymakers, librarians, researchers, students, industry leaders, and academic administrators who will bring an array of compelling perspectives and case studies to the discussion of open access, open data, and open education resources. Click here to view the agenda & speakers.

Call for proposals: SPARC MORE Innovation Fair
Proposals are now being invited for the SPARC 2016 MORE Innovation Fair – where rapid-fire presentations will showcase new technologies and strategies to ‘Open”.  Submissions must be received no later than February 5, 2016. Click here to submit a proposal.

The Doctors are In:  Establishing, Implementing & Improving Your Campus Open Access Policy
Bring your campus open access policy - or plans for creating a policy - for a checkup with experts on establishing, implementing, and improving institutional open access policies. This half-day, practical workshop, co-sponsored by COAPI and SPARC, will take place from 9:00am-12:30pm on Wednesday, March 9th, immediately following the SPARC MORE meeting. Registration is free but required and limited to 40 participants. Click here to register for the workshop.
