Webinars Overview

Researchers and scholars face the ongoing challenge of distinguishing their research activities from those of others who have similar names. As collaborations across disciplines, institutions, borders and technologies increase, interactions among diverse research information systems are also on the rise. Being able to easily and uniquely attach your identity to research objects such as datasets, equipment, articles, media stories, citations, experiments, patents, and notebooks with an ORCID ID makes it simple to verify authorship in the vast landscape of scholarly research.

ORCID is an open, non-profit, community-driven effort to create and maintain a registry of unique researcher identifiers and a transparent method of linking research activities and outputs to these identifiers. ORCID is a hub that connects researchers and research through the embedding of ORCID identifiers in key workflows.

This series provides detailed insights into how ORCID persistent digital identifiers can be integrated with DSpace and Fedora repositories and with the VIVO open source semantic web application that provides an integrated view of the scholarly work of an organization. Representatives from organizations and institutions who have enabled and implemented ORCID with these open source systems will share their experiences and highlight how ORCID adds value to information systems.
