Global Open Data for Agriculture and Nutrition (GODAN) is set to host a webinar entitled “Data Governance in Agriculture: Including Farmers” on 13 October, 2021 at 15:30 CEST.

Through this webinar, The Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR), the Forum of the Americas for Agricultural Research and Technology Development (FORAGRO),  the Confederation of Family Producers Organizations of the Expanded Mercosur (COPROFAM), GODAN, and Ag Gateway are looking to address data governance questions, concerns and challenges farmers currently face in the Caribbean and Latin American (LAC) region.

During the webinar, legal experts Foteini Zampati and Caroline Muchiri will discuss ethical and legal digital agriculture challenges faced by farmers; identifying best practices and examples to illustrate and explore how farmers can actively participate in more equitable data sharing. They will be joined by two farming representatives from Kenya and Latin America, to consider key questions such as who owns data and who is entitled to the value of the data.
