Set of "Features" for implementing a repository in Drupal

The latest development in the AgriDrupal community is a set of Features that packages the essential AgriDrupal functionalities into a few modules that can be installed in any Drupal website.

In Drupal, a feature is a collection of Drupal entities / functionalities which taken together satisfy a certain use-case (http://drupal.org/project/features). In other words, it's a mechanism to automatically package any of your site's features in a module and make it available for download by anybody else for use in their own website.

DLIO Features

The first set of features that was created out of AgriDrupal is called "DLIO" and is available at http://www.agridrupal.org/downloads/Features/DLIO-FEATURE/ (the instructions.txt file must be followed carefully). The DLIO Features deploy the following AgriDrupal core functionalities in any website:

  • document repository management;
  • indexing of any content with Agrovoc;
  • OAI-PMH provider interface for the local document repository;
  • repository importing functionalities;
  • XML exports using the AGRIS AP metadata set.

Installing the Features automatically creates a few content types, a couple of taxonomies, a few views and optional menus.

More features available soon

The Agridrupal team will soon make other Features available, one for managing news and events with standard-compliant feeds, and another one for managing experts and Institutions with suitable metadata and indexing with Agrovoc terms.

The objective of making these Features available is that of enabling any existing Drupal website to implement an agricultural information management system.
