iMarine (Data e-Infrastructure Initiative for Fisheries Management and Conservation of Marine Living Resources) is co-funded by the European Commission under Framework Programme 7. The project was launched in November 2011 and will end in April 2014.

The aim of iMarine is to contribute to sustainable environmental management with invaluable direct or indirect benefits to the future of our planet, from climate change mitigation and marine biodiversity loss containment to poverty alleviation and disaster risk reduction. To achieve this goal, iMarine has established three main detailed objectives:

1. Establishment of a project board of community representatives that will define a sustainability-driven data infrastructure governance model and will formulate organizational and technological policy recommendations. 
2. Management and operation of a data infrastructure that will offer user-level and application-level services that support the above policies and realize data and knowledge integration functionality that is required by EACoP to step up its EA implementation. 
3. Extension, adaptation, and deployment of a rich set of software components that implement the above services.

Marine Knowledge All Projects Meeting, 11-12 Oct 2012, Brussels

To avoid duplicate efforts and use public money more wisely, the iMarine initiative together with some of the major marine-related initiatives in Europe has leveraged its network of contacts and co-organised the meeting Marine Knowledge: All projects meeting. The meeting was held on 11–12 October 2012 in Brussels (Belgium).
