Open Access & Agricultural Repositories: A workshop on VOA3R & agINFRA

  

The workshop "Open Access & Agricultural Repositories" will take place in Limassol, Cyprus on October 18, 2012. The event is organized with the support of the European Committee and the ICT-PSP Program, under the auspices of the Agricultural Research Institute of Cyprus (ARI), the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET), the European funded project VOA3R and the AIMS portal.

Participation is free, however pre-registration is required by filling-in and submitting the registration form. English will be the working language.

Objectives

The overall objective of this workshop is to bring together actors from agricultural universities, research centers and institutional organizations to discuss on pending issues in the management of agricultural research repositories, in terms of accessibility and dissemination of scientific research, publications and results. Specific objectives are:

  • To reflect the current experience in the content management of agricultural research repositories.
  • To reflect/discuss the need and pending issues on open access institutional repositories.
  • To reflect on the experience of well-established networks such as AGRIS and discuss their experience regarding open access issues.

15:30 – 16:00: Wrap up – End of Workshop

Imma Subirats from the FAO AIMS team will participate with an introductory presentation entitled "Open repositories to the challenges of the Semantic Web in the agricultural domain" and a presentation on AgriDrupal at the Demo Marketplace on Open Access Repository tools.
