EIFL’s Public Library Innovation Programme (EIFL-PLIP) has shared results of three library information projects that are improving lives in farming communities in Uganda. Click the links to read about how –

Kachumbala Area Cooperative Enterprise Community Library (KACE) used information and communication technology (ICT) to support farmer-to-farmer learning and develop local language learning materials for farmers.

Maendeleo Foundation piloted an ICT-based agricultural information service in five community libraries and inspired community members to contribute funds to support the service in future.

Rwenzori Information Centre (RIC-NET), working through a community library, used smart phones and other ICT to help over 800 farmers combat plant pests and diseases.

Farmers consult a plant doctor about plant pests and diseases as part of RIC-NET's service for farmers.

These three services are among 13 innovative public and community library services funded by EIFL-PLIP in 2012 in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
