The EU funded SemaGrow project is ending its first year.

SemaGrow aims at finding ways to query and process big data in agriculture, with dedicated work packages on techniques for distributed queries over the Web, data and metadata mapping and fast indexes for big data. FAO is involved in the project as a data provider. Also, Agris will serve a demonstrator of the technologies developed within the project. 

Agrovoc, Agris, data.fao.org are already part of the data sets available, and some more are expected to come. The use case for FAO is also now defined: enhance Agris with more data, also including data that include temporal information – such as media, news, and statistical information on agriculture.
