Six new ontologies on fisheries are now available online!

The latest output of the participation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in the Networked Ontologies (NeOn) project is now publicly available. As part of the project, FAO has produced a set of OWL ontologies related to the fisheries domain dedicated to biological species, fishing water areas, land areas, fisheries commodities, types of vessels and types of fishing gears. FAO has also produced a document describing the main features of the domain embodied by the ontologies, the way they were generated and their models. This document includes a discussion on the ontologies themselves and lessons learned during their creation.
