Ontology plug-in now available

The June issue of the AIMS Newsletter is now available. The monthly spotlight is dedicated to the ontology plug-in recently developed by the Hasselt University. Highlighted this month are the latest on VocBench, AGRIS, AIMS, CIARD, AgriDrupal, but also LINQ 2013, aWhere, DAAN, EIFL-PLIP and REDIAGRO.

The glossary highlights the term "Ontology" and the "5 Questions in 5 Minutes" are answered this month by Carmen Reverté, information scientist at Institute for Food and Agricultural Research and Technology (IRTA) in Catalonia, Spain.

Ontology

a controlled vocabulary with a greater number and more specific types of relationships between terms than is the case with thesauri or taxonomies. Information that in a simple controlled vocabulary is conveyed through indexing, is embedded into the ontology itself.
