CABICODES enable searchers to locate general subject categories which are not easy to retrieve using descriptors alone and help them to exclude irrelevant information from their searches. CABICODES have been derived from the classification schemes used in the AGRICOLA and AGRIS databases, with changes made to allow for differences in subject scope and emphasis.
