From 13th February to 10th March 2017, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) delivered the Access to Scientific Information Resources in Agriculture (ASIRA) online course in collaboration with Research4Life. The main goal of this course  is to provide a platform to enhance the visibility, accessibility and usability of data and information in the agricultural domain, particularly in low-income countries.

Sixty students from twenty four countries took the course including researchers, librarians and professors related to the agricultural domain. The course was enriched by six webinars designed to give course participants broader perspective in the relevant areas.

Considering that the course is in high demand, a second edition of ASIRA online course will take place from April 10th to May 5th, 2017. It will be enriched again with a series of webinars by experts within the domain.

The aim is to reach out as many as researchers, librarians, infomediaries and students in more than forty different countries throughout the ASIRA Online Course at the end of 2017.
