Openagri : An Open Access Initiative - India

Openagri is an open repository based on Drupal CMS and built on the same architecture design as of Agropedia . It was developed by IIT Kanpur and ICRISAT in collaboration with FAO of the UN in January 2010. It contains 900 full text documents and 1,700 registered users. In Openagri one can upload published agricultural research content as books, book chapters, journals, conference papers and proceedings, multimedia content, miscellaneous, reports or theses. For each of these content types Openagri has a specific application profile. It’s a very user-friendly and simple platform.

An user in Openagri has the flexibility of adding a full-text document upto size 800MB and he/she can add any number of documents, thus easily managing all your data online at one place. Openagri also facilitates its use with multilingualism features.

Openagri uses Agrotagger, an automatic keyword assignment system. When a document is submitted to Openagri,  Agrotagger processes the attached file generating a set of tags/keywords. This set of tags is fetched from a controlled vocabulary called Agrotags, a hand-picked subset of the AGROVOC Thesaurus . Agrotags is available in two versions Agrotags 1 (2,021 tags)  and Agrotags 2 (3,054 tags).
