Philippine Department of Agriculture's new open data portal: Opening up information on projects
05/06/2013
The Department of Agriculture (DA) of the Philippines launched the Department of Agriculture Accountability Network (DAAN), an open data portal (in English). It is DA's answer to president Aquino’s call for transparency. Goal: to list down all DA's community-focused projects and make them available to the public.
The portal contains:
- Projects Library
- On-going projects
- Completed projects
- In addition, the projects are mapped through GPS.
Mapped projects include farm to market roads, irrigation, post-harvest facilities, production support facilities, market related infrastructure, post-harvest equipment and machines as well as other major projects.
Users encouraged to share knowledge and skills
Users are encouraged to leave their thoughts and comments and help to improve DAAN.
Comments on the effective and efficient implementation of agriculture-related projects in their localities by:
- reporting their actual status,
- sharing knowledge and skills,
- introducing best practices, or
- simply becoming aware and making full use of the government's services for community-based agricultural development.
