The Open Access & Open Data Support Pack has been created by CGIAR to start and maintain an open support knowledge pack with documents and other resources (policies and plans, information material, brochures, templates, presentations, webinars, workflows, metadata, reports etc.) in order to assist fiftteen CGIAR research centers and their partners in various aspects of Open Access and Open Data (OA-OD) implementation.

All materials may be accessed without registering and can be adapted, re-mixed, or re-purposed according to CC-BY.

“Open Access and Open Data are relatively new phenomena. Even so, there is over a decade of best practices, metadata standards, interoperability standards, systems, and communities of
people to draw upon, particularly for Open Access” (CGIAR Open Access and Open Data, 2014).

Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research CGIAR realizes the full potential of open collaborative research for tackling cross-cutting agricultural development issues.

Recognizing the need to make research outputs - resulting from CGIAR research programs - discoverable, accessible, and reusable, and capitalizing on the opportunity to improve efficiencies and enhance innovation and impact in an era of complex and large data sets (“big data”), CGIAR has made a strong commitment to Open Access and Open Data  strategy.

This represents an ambitious effort, which requires well-coordinated changes in policies, processes, and platforms across CGIAR. The Open Access & Open Data Support Pack is an important piece of this strategy for fueling a translational OA-OD revolution in agriculture research centers.

The main goal of the Open Access & Open Data Support Pack is to provide support to practical implementation of OA/Data Management (DM), comprised OA/Data Management Policies & Plans, OA/DM Administration, best practices, interoperable repositories, etc. Moreover the site provides links to quickly access advocacy & guidance materials, data publishing and quality documentation, information about regional workshops, CGIAR Working Groups and Task Force, and more.
