Opening and Linking Agricultural Research Data

Lately, efforts to make agricultural data, information and knowledge more accessible have increased. A recent article entitled ‘Opening and Linking Agricultural Research Data’ published in the D-Lib Magazine enumerates developments in 'Opening data in Agriculture' within the context of Research Data Alliance. The tripartite authored article (with authors from , INRA [Esther Dzalé Yeumo Kaboré] , Indian Statistics Institute [Devika Madalli] and FAO [Johannes Keizer]  details the objectives of the Agricultural Data Interest Group with RDA. 
 
The goal of Agricultural Data Interest Group is stated aptly in the article as “to gather active representatives of the major international institutions that work on agricultural research and innovation worldwide, in order to address issues related to data that are important to the development of global agriculture. To do so, the Interest Group is moving toward this goal by advancing the formation of a Wheat Data Interoperability Working Group that will address diverse data problems of 'wheat data' and, within a period of 18 months, provide a framework for wheat data interoperability”. The paper goes further in explaining both the Agricultural Data Interest Group and the Wheat Data Interoperability Working Group. It concludes by listing key discussion points within the Wheat Data Interoperability Group.
