Improved coverage of development issues through collaboration with UNDP
The Human Development Index (HDI) value is now available on the key statistics section of each country profiles page. The HDI is a composite index measuring average achievement in three basic dimensions of human development: a long and healthy life, knowledge and a decent standard of living. Links to the "Country Profiles and International Human Development Indicators" are also available. The links to these profiles display in the 'General information' and 'Economic situation' of a FAO country profile. For example Jamaica.
The index and the thematic profiles are published by the Human Development Report Office (HDRO) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). More information at: http://hdr.undp.org/en/data/profiles/ and http://hdrstats.undp.org/en/indicators/49806.html
The Geopolitical ontology now includes the HDI value with explicit source description. A new web service 'Country HDI' was added on the 'Geopolitical ontology web services' page.
