About the webinar:
Learn about online resources from the National Agricultural Library (NAL), part of the Agricultural Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This presentation will include orientation and search strategies for Agricola, PubAg, NAL Digital Collections, the Ag Data Commons, and the NAL Thesaurus. Highlights will also include resources from the NAL information centers on nutrition and food safety, alternative farming systems, water in agriculture, animal welfare, invasive species, and rural development.
About the speaker:
Jill R. James is the Associate Director for Information Products at the National Agricultural Library, where she leads the digital library, customer services, and the information centers for food and nutrition, food safety, animal welfare, water and agriculture, alternative farming systems, invasive species, and rural information. She is a librarian with more than 12 years of federal experience enhancing online access to government information resources and data. Prior to joining the National Agricultural Library, she served as the Chief of Digital Resources at the Law Library of Congress (2015-2016), Senior Web Editor for ED.gov and chair of the Open Data Work Group at the U.S. Department of Education (2012-2015), and the Social Media Manager (2010-2012) and an Archives Specialist (2004-2010) at the National Archives and Records and Records Administration. Jill holds an honors B.A. degree in English Literature and French Studies and a minor in History from the University of Delaware. She earned a Master of Library Science and a Master of Arts in U.S. History from the University of Maryland. |
