Research4Life's five strategic goals

Research4Life published its strategic plan "Beyond the 2015 Horizon". It outlines the five strategic goals for the next five years and is based on the findings and recommendations of detailed external reviews conducted during 2010. In addition to outlining the five strategic goals, the plan also summarises a wide range of basic information about Research4Life, its provenance, mission, and modus operandi. Download the plan (pdf)

Strategic goals

  • Seamless, uninterrupted access to expanding collections of research information.
  • Measurement of performance and impact of the Research4Life programmes.
  • Widespread recognition of Research4Life amongst all stakeholders by effective marketing, publicity and promotion.
  • Trusted education and support services that promote information literacy, improve research outcomes, and enhance information use in higher education and research settings.
  • Leveraged partnerships at the international and national level, and with organizations with shared interests.

Research4Life

Research4Life is a public-private partnership of the WHO, FAO, UNEP, WIPO, Cornell and Yale Universities and the International Association of Scientific, Technical & Medical Publishers. Working together with technology partner Microsoft, the partnership’s goal is to help attain six of the UN’s eight Millennium Development Goals by 2015, reducing the scientific knowledge gap between industrialized countries and the developing world.

Research4Life comprises currently four programmes:

  • HINARI, Access to Research in Health Programme
  • AGORA, Access to Global Online Research in Agriculture
  • OARE, Online Access to Research in the Environment
  • ARDI, Access to Research for Development and Innovation
