ARSSF Signs Berlin Declaration
Its gives me an immense pleasure to share with you the news as Joint Secretary, Agricultural Research Service Scientists Forum that the ARSSF had signed Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities on 18th May 2012 in response to the call to action given by Berlin 10 conference. The ARSSF is the first association of agricultural scientists in the world to sign the Declaration and it stands third in India after the Indian National Science Academy and the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Association of India who had signed the Declaration during earlier conferences. The list of signatories can be found here. Now what it means to ARSSF to join the long list of Open Access signatories. It means commitment to Open Access and would like to say to the world that it is a progressive scientific forum which believes that only upon sharing, value of any research output grows. To this effect, it strongly recommends all its members to share their research outputs in their respective institutional repositories viz., Eprints@IARI, Eprints@CMFRI, erepo@IIHR, DSpice@IISR or in the thematic repository established by IIT Kanpur under Agropedia, the OpenAgri. It also suggests its members to consider the MyOpenArchive a self archiving platform or the OpenDepot.org established by The University of Edinburgh for those institutes in the world which don't have any online institutional repository for sharing their research outputs.
