The FAO Country Profiles team made a presentation on Linked Open Data for the Food and Agriculture Country Profiles at the Semantic Technology Conference (SemTech 2011), the world's largest, most authoritative conference on semantic technology for enterprise computing professionals.

The presentation described how users benefit from a Linked Open Data (LOD) approach in the FAO Country Profiles portal and in particular it focused on a) how the system exploits the LOD resources within the portal to provide enhanced country profiles in the area of Food and Agriculture, b) how it contributes to the LOD cloud with an RDF version of FAO's master reference data used to manage country-based information, and other key resources and c) how it exposes FAO Country Profiles data in RDFa to improve search and reuse.

Now in its seventh year, the conference was held in San Francisco, USA on 5-9 June 2011.
