The 11th European Networked Knowledge Organization Systems (NKOS) Workshop, which was part of TPDL 2012, took place on 27 September 2012 in Paphos, Cyprus. Around 20 participants attended the workshop which was structured into the following three sessions:

• KOS driving user applications
• ISO 25964 Thesaurus Standard
• KOS as infrastructure

In these sessions, very interesting presentations were given about

• Meaningful Concept Displays (MCD)
• General and unified search user interface over multiple existing information sources (ASKOSI project)
• DISTIL (Document Indexing & Semantic Tagging Interface for Libraries) project
• Creation of custom KOS-based recommendation systems
• Subject search in the Integrated RSL (Russian State Library) Digital Library using the Library-Bibliographic Classification (BBK)
• HIVE (Helping Interdisciplinary Vocabulary Engineering) and HIVE-España (ES) projects
• Development of ISO 25964 - Thesauri and interoperability with other vocabularies.
