Thompson Reuters has announced the partnership with Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) to host the SciELO database Web of Knowledge , one of the world's leading scholarly search and discovery platform.

The SciELO database will be integrated into Web of Knowledge, enabling researchers to review and analyse regional content alongside international literature. Currently SciELO publishes about 40,000 new articles every year from over 900 open access journals from Argentina,Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and Venezuela.

This partnership will bring greater visibility  and improved access to research from emerging economies particularly in Latin America, the Caribbean, South Africa, and developed latin-language areas including Spain and Portugal. 

The addition of SciELO database to Web of Knowledge follows a similar model to that of Chinese Science Citation Database, which has been hosted on Web of Knowledge since 2008.
