The 8th newsletter of the FAO Country Profiles is now available. This edition gives a focus on a resource available in the FAO Country Profiles, the GIEWS Country Briefs, prepared by FAO’s Trade and Markets Division. These briefs are designed to provide a brief overview of the country's macroeconomic situation, its agricultural status and FAO's major in-country development activities and programmes. The newsletter also features the Country Pasture/Forage Resource Profiles prepared by FAO's Plant Production and Protection Division.

As announced in the previous issue, the FAO Country Profiles team participated in the 2011 Semantic Technology Conference held in San Francisco on 5-9 June. The newsletter links to the slides on Linked Open Data for the Food and Agriculture Country Profiles presented during the event.
