RDA/IGAD Webinar Series: ‘The Practice of agricultural information resources construction in Beijing’

As part of The Research Data Alliance (RDA) Interest Group on Agricultural Data (IGAD) meeting focusing on IGAD/RDA : Sharing Experiences and Creating Digital Dialogues, Xiaojing Qin, Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences presented a webinar during the ‘Europe/Asia’ group of presentations on May 27.

The webinar focused on ‘The Practice of agricultural information resources construction in Beijing.’ Data is the basis of information analysis and scientific decision-making. To meet the needs of policy makers, researchers and information analysts for agricultural information resources, we have built the “Beijing agricultural think tank” platform. The platform brings together agricultural policy, the development plan, agricultural related reports, agricultural experts data, and statistical data around the world, to provide users with rich and high quality data support and knowledge services. Today, I will give a detailed introduction on the objectives of agricultural information resources construction, the status of resource construction, the standardized data processing flow, the data acquisition and processing technology, architecture and functions of the platform, and the existing problems and deficiencies, etc.

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) Interest Group on Agricultural Data (IGAD) meeting was set to be held in Rome (Italy) in April 2020 but instead, took place as a virtual meeting from May 25 to 28.  The virtual meeting provided an online platform to continue to build upon collaborations, knowledge sharing and developing innovations with activities including panel sessions, group discussions and presentations.
