EARTh: An Environmental Application Reference Thesaurus in the Linked Open Data cloud

A recent article entitled 'EARTh: An Environmental Application Reference Thesaurus in the Linked Open Data cloud', published in the Semantic Web Journal describes how the Environment Application Reference Thesaurus (EARTh) was published as linked open data.

This paper reviews the main characteristics of the EARTh thesaurus and details its semantic model. The technological choices made in publishing of EARTh as linked data are explained, detailing how EARTh was included in the Linked Open Data Cloud. Currently, EARTh  content is accessible through HTTP dereferenceable URIs, RDF/XML Dump, and SPAQL Endpoint 11.The theasurus is currently under going revision as a consequence of the recent publication of ISO 25964-1:2011, and concepts will be enlarged to better represent fully the environmental communitities.
