The Organization for Tropical Studies took the initiative to develop the National Bibliography on Tropical Biology (BINABITROP) which is a database that contains the references of more than 39,000 publications in English and Spanish (books, selected chapters, thesis, articles, reports, and multimedia) on biology and related topics regarding Costa Rica.

The search can be conducted by entering the scientific name or a key word in English. The database also includes reference information, the author's contact information, and location index of the document. There are more than 10 thousand open access full-text publications available. The material that can be searched in BINABITROP is fully indexed according the AGROVOC thesaurus.
