MODS public wiki

On behalf of the MODS/MAD Committe

In the interest of better information sharing in our communities, the MODS/MADS Editorial Committee has set up a public wiki for MODS and MADS information. Currently, the wiki content focuses mostly on the Editorial Committee's work, but we hope this wiki will grow into a larger community space. You can find this wiki at:

http://mods.pbworks.com

Anyone can view pages on the wiki. If you'd like to contribute, use the PBWorks feature to request editing access, and we'll approve your request.

On this wiki, you can find agendas and notes for the Editorial Committee's conference call, as well as documents we're currently working on. You can find information on our current initiatives, and use the wiki as a way to propose changes to MODS or MADS. (Of course, you can still propose changes via this listserv as well.)

Our current major initiative is articulating a more formal data model for MODS. We expect this process will result in a prose document describing the model for human users (a data dictionary of sorts), and an expression of that data model as RDF classes and properties. You can find more information on this initiative at:

You may wonder how the MODS/MADS Editorial Committee views this work in connection to the LC Bibliographic Framework Transition Initiative. Stay tuned to the BIBFRAME list for our thoughts on that matter, hopefully next week.
