The AGRIS database has indexed the metadata from 2,088 journal articles available at the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), an open access publisher in Switzerland of peer-reviewed, scientific open-access journals.

All references contain links to the full text and AGRIS, on a regular basis, will sustain the dissemination of the new journal articles from a domain specific selection of the MDPI journals [1].

The AGRIS database provides a comprehensive coverage of the world's most important and influential information content covering agriculture. Currently more then 4 milion journal article references have been incorporated into the system – of which a growing number provides links to the full text. In addition Google Scholar started to index all the references of the AGRIS repository at the beginning of 2008, boosting the worldwide visibility and accessibility of the participating institutional repositories hugely.
