Paul Walk has been working in library and IT related services in the higher education sector in the UK since 1993. For much of that time his role has been to manage the development of software and systems to meet institutional and, more recently, national and international requirements. Between 2006-2013, Paul worked at UKOLN, then based in the University of Bath, where he was involved in directing a range of work support research and development in information management.
In 2013, Paul joined EDINA at the University of Edinburgh as Head of Technology Strategy and Planning. EDINA develops and manages a range of data services in support of research, teaching and learning, primarily in the UK higher and further education sectors. He has also recently become Chair-elect of the Governing Board of the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative.
Paul continues to maintain a particular interest in the practical development of metadata 'application profiles'.
