agINFRA promotes the integration of biodiversity Information in AGRIS

The multilingual bibliographic database for agricultural science AGRIS was enriched with bioversity information of the Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL) through the support of the agINFRA project.

BHL currently contains over 45 million pages of digitized biodiversity content and is a unique resource for agricultural researchers. Only full text documents, filtered by relevant keywords, have been extracted from BHL and integrated in the AGRIS data base to be made available to a broader community and accessible as Linked open Data: click here to have a look.

The import of the BHL records was facilitated by the use of widely-endorsed standards like the Metadata Object Description Schema (MODS).

As an AGRIS data provider, BHL is now part of the CIARD RING: http://ring.ciard.net/biodiversity-heritage-library-bhl.
