Cape Town Declaration (2015)

Just before the IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2015, ministers and country representatives from 13 African countries met in a pre-meeting together with the IFLA president Sinikka Sipilä, the African Library Association & Institutions (AfLIA) and national librarians.

The meeting was focussed on the status of African libraries and action that has to be taken to meet the Sustainable Development Goals. As a result, the participants could agree on the "Cape Town Declaration", that includes committments to strenghen African library systems and knowledge management.
