SWALIM awarded the 2016 WSIS Prize Champions in the "E-Agriculture" category

The SWALIM project has been awarded WSIS Prize Champions in the category of “E-Agriculture” for 2016.


SWALIM joins 5 other projects in this category and 88 projects overall have been named  "Champions". This is a very important recognition of the innovative work that SWALIM has carried out in making the most of modern digital technologies in a developing country context.The WSIS Champion Certificate and Trophy will be awarded on Wednesday 4th May 2016 during special ceremony at the Knowledge Café in Geneva, Switzerland.

There were 18 categories of the projects in different genre within the scope of ICTs. SWALIM's was listed in the E-Agriculture category with many other projects within the ICTs and agriculture in development. After the nomination an online voting process was opened. The strengths of the project nominated focus on the results of the impact generated, community empowerment, sustainability of project and the promotion of WSIS values in the Society.

About the WSIS Prizes 2016

The contest of WSIS Prizes 2016 is organized into five phases; submission, nomination, voting, selection, and announcement of winners. The 18 winners of WSIS Prizes will be honored, recognized and presented with an award during WSIS Prizes 2016 Ceremony at the WSIS Forum 2016, to be held from 2 to 6 May 2016 in Geneva, Switzerland.
