Representatives from eight partner organisations met recently at the Institute of Developmental Studies. The purpose of the workshop was to plan and kick-start a new project (the Global Open Knowledge Hub) to increase access to research and knowledge from the Global South.This workshop follows a competitive tendering process that awarded partners from developing countries to work with Eldis.

Global Open Knowledge Hub project (GOKH)

The objective of the project is to contribute to the UK Government’s Open Data initiative by developing a digital data hub, established by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) that will make international development research more available, accessible and reusable.

The programme outputs include;

• maintenance and development of open data architecture which will enable decentralisation of sourcing and selection of content and enable content and data to be made visible on and beyond the IDS services.
• maintenance and updating of the BLDS collection and increasing its user base
• maintenance and updating of Eldis content and increasing partner-based content delivery and filtered harvesting of content supply to increase the diversity and relevance of Eldis' content
• development and dissemination of new BRIDGE gender and development resources, and improved outreach and relevance of existing resources.
