
Dr. Anthony Ojonimi ONOJA, is a Senior Lecturer and immediate past Head, Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension at University of Port-Harcourt, Nigeria. He was a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Agriculture and Animal Health, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, University of South Africa, Johannesburg Campus, South Africa from May-August, 2018. He is also the incumbent President, Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet http://aprnetworkng.org ), facilitated by IFPRI/USAID and based in Abuja, Nigeria. He obtained a PhD at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2015), majoring in Resource and Environmental Economics in the field of Agricultural Economics. Dr Onoja had won scholarships/grants and fellowships (both national and international) and had consulted for GTZ, Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), Global Development Network/USAID, World Bank-FGN Fadama Programme and Port Harcourt Refineries Company. He had also won awards (twice) for outstanding contribution to research and development at University of Port Harcourt. In 2017 he was named CTLR Researcher of the Year by an Abuja based Magazine. He is currently the managing editor for Agricultural Economics and Extension Research Studies (AGEERS) and Nigerian Agricultural Policy Research Journal (NAPReJ). He has several peer-reviewed publications (over 60) to his credit including journal articles, two textbooks and chapters in an edited book of readings/edited conference proceedings. He is a reviewer to many international journals including Elsevier. His areas of research include Resource and Environmental Economics, econometric modelling, climate change, food security and agricultural policy analysis. He has competences in the use of packages such as DSSAT, STATA, Frontier 4.1c, SPSS, Limdep, Shazam, E-Views, DEAP-xp, TFP-xp, DPIN 3.0, Minitab, Genstat, CCAFS and Desktop Publishing packages. Dr Onoja had also facilitated various development training and workshops. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including, APRNet, International Association of Agricultural Economics (IAAE), African Econometric Society (AES), African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE), African Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (AFAERE) and Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists (NAAE). He is widely travelled internationally as a researcher. His hobbies include web surfing and blogging; music, watching documentaries, sports, networking and travelling.
