In action
Access to scientific knowledge, research and information for food and agriculture is crucial sustainability in food and agriculture, in a way that safeguards both livelihoods and the environment. The exchange of knowledge, information and data not only supports FAO’s work for a world free of hunger, malnutrition and poverty, but also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through AIMS, knowledge is disseminated in a number of ways including through monthly newsletters, interviews with AIMS community members, publications and free webinars.
Newsletters
The AIMS newsletter is a tool to facilitate innovation transfer and assure the generation of new ideas, products and services worldwide. It is published on a monthly basis to alert the AIMS Community of recent news, events, upcoming webinars and online courses, along with achievements in agriculture information management. It also serves as a tool to offer communication about how to access and utilize the assets provided by the team behind AIMS making scientific information and digital data on food and agriculture available, accessible and applicable worldwide.
Interviews
AIMS Interviews promotes sharing of experiences through using interviews to collect case studies from the community in their implementation methodologies and good practices in managing agricultural research information. This section presents interviews collected from the AIMS Community around the AIMS subject areas. These interviews are organised into the following categories, AIMS User Interviews, Open Access Interviews and Thematic Interviews.
Publications
AIMS community endeavours to publish and document the work done in the context of standards, technology and good practices for open science (open access, open data and other aspects of ‘openness’) in the agricultural domain.
Webinars
AIMS offers access to free webinars to all interested parties on a variety of information, data and knowledge. Topics include: open access, open data, research data management, knowledge information systems, data curation, metadata, linked open data, big data, open tools and standards supporting stewardship of information and data in agriculture, along with other domains.
